Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Today was a flurry of activity on the campaign trail. We are really moving with our sign campaign, hitting Streestville, Erindale, Clarkson, and Port Credit. We also had extensive literature distribution at the Streetsville Go Train Station. We finished off the day by meeting the rush hour passengers at the Port Credit Go Station with campaign literature.
I firmed up the banner ad that will appear in the election section of tomorrow’s Mississauga News.
As if to remind me why I am running, the uncaring bureaucracy at Mississauga City Hall continues to beg for a shakeup. A weed ago, I phoned the office of the Darren Bryan, Supervisor of the Sign Unit. He was not in. Natch! I left a message as I needed clarification about a banner sign I wanted to place on my own property. No reply.
Signs — we’re competitive
I called the next day and spoke to his assistant. She thought it might be okay but needed word from Mr. Bryan. I said I’d called him the day before and left a message and my phone number. She advised me he was very busy as there as an election going on. Duh? So what! Do your job, Darren. As of today, still no answer. I know, I know, there’s an election going on.
Donations are beginning to roll in to the campaign. However, as most of the money has to be spent up front, there is quite a gap between what we’ve spent and what we’ve taken in.
